Incredible 1960s wooden box purse, made in Japan. Constructed like a miniature trunk from richly grained wood with a warm honey-brown finish, the bag features a hinged lid, sculptural brass-tone clasp, and substantial silver-tone chain details along the sides.
A curved wooden top handle gives the structured box shape an unexpected mix of rustic and industrial details. The interior is fully lined in chocolate brown fabric with a small interior compartment.
Such a special example of mid-century novelty handbag design—part purse, part beautifully constructed object.
